THE GIANT SQUID IS NOT ON DISPLAY... YET!
We will let you know as soon as we have it! We are tracking down a display case in order to display the major parts of the squid, and until we find that the squid must remain frozen. We apologize to all of those that are really keen to see it - we are trying our best to have it for you ASAP!

The Kaikoura Marine Centre and Aquarium is a developing project focused on education, awareness, research and conservation of the local marine life in the Kaikoura region. We aim to be an affordable, interactive, hands-on research and educational centre for all to enjoy.
Recently we have moved in to a new location on the New Wharf, just a couple hundred meters from our old location! We have a Classroom and soon hope to have a Canyon Room to teach about the significance of the Kaikoura Canyon. We still have lots of live specimens of local species in our Tank Room, so come and have a look! There are carpet sharks, seahorses, an octopus, crayfish, kinas, sea stars, a touch tank, and lots of different kinds of fish to look at!
We strive to be the centre for marine education in Kaikoura, and ultimately in New Zealand. We hope to bring a sense of cohesiveness between all of the recreational and commercial marine activities around Kaikoura, and involve the community in protecting their environment by first learning more about it.
We hope to see you soon at the Kaikoura Marine Centre and Aquarium!
